Centrica signals North Sea progress
Published 28.07.2010 15:07:16 by John Bradbury
Energy group Centrica said it seven out of ten well drilled so far this year have been successful.Reviewing operations in the first half of this year Centrica said: “Of the ten operated and non-operated wells drilled this year seven have shown positive results, including three exploration discoveries.” And it indicated a further six wells are scheduled to be drilled by the end of 2010 “...giving Centrica one of the most active drilling programmes in the UK North Sea,” the company said today in its results statement. Turning to field development work, the energy group indicated that a third development well has been drilled on the Chiswick gas field which is now onstream, while fourth well at the field is due onstream in the fourth quarter this year. Both the Eres and Ceres gas fields – in which EnCore Oil has just sold its 10% equity stake to Egdon Resources - both came onstream in March. Also work is underway in the Dutch sector of the North Sea on the F3-FA field where a production platform is due to be installed at the field location later this year with first track on track for either later this or early next year. And at the Cygnus gas field, Centrica has said appraisal work is now completed on the western end of the asset, “...and the reserves potential of the field is now being assessed as part of the full field development planning.” And the company added: “As part of our focused exploration and appraisal programme we made discoveries at the Olympus prospect in the southern North Sea and the Fogelberg and Maria prospects in Norway. Results from the wells are encouraging and early indications are that these will be commercial development opportunities.” ![]() No new money: KNOCKNOC has confirmed it will not put any more money on the table to try and complete its hostile £1.67 Bn (US $2.57 Bn) takeover of Dana Petroleum.
